Keep Your Gin Up - with some isolation drink classics!
The first thing to say is that we hope everyone is keeping safe and keeping others around them safe. We know that you’re favourite gin cocktails may be the last thing on your mind right now but if some of you would like some light relief while isolated at home then we think we have some ideas for you.
The first option we have for you use both our classic navy strength Chauffeurs Reserve Cornish Gin and our newest Trevethan family member - Koneva - The Cornish Aperitif. Interestingly our Koneva is made by distilling Cinchona bark, sweet orange, cassia and meadowsweet; then soaking the spirit with goji berries, cranberries and cherries. This means it is packed full of healthy anti-oxidants. Now we do have to caveat that with the need to drink responsibly and in moderation, but every little helps!
So why not try our Legend of Tamara Negroni (Find out about the Legend of Tamara here):
Add 35ml of Trevethan Chauffeurs Reserve Gin
Add 35ml of Koneva Cornish Aperitif
Add 35ml of Knightor Dry Vermouth
Mix gently over ice
Strain into a short tumbler full of ice
Garnish with citrus peel of your choice
Next we have a classic Gin and Tonic made the Trevethan way! The Gin and Tonic has long been thought to have medicinal properties and originally was a way of introducing quinine to the diet to ward of malaria wielding mosquitos. It is also said to sooth aches, pains and coughs. Now we can’t comment on the scientific accuracy of those claims but we do know it tastes blooming marvelous when made correctly……so here’s how.
First fill a tumbler glass with ice
Measure out 150ml of Navas Cornish Tonic Water (We love their new Garden Tonic!)
Measure 50ml of Trevethan Original Gin - a classic London Dry!
Garnish with orange and rosemary
The reason we add the gin in last is to make sure the ice doesn’t shock the beautifully balanced botanical oils and the gin cools more slowly for an perfectly balanced G&T.
Our final isolation drink special is the classic spritz. This again utilises the super anti-oxidants of our Koneva aperitif as well as some classic English sparkling wine, here’s how to make it.
50ml of Knightor Sparkling Rose
50ml of Koneva Cornish Aperitif
Top up with Navas Cornish Soda or Tonic Water depending on your preference
Mix into a glass full of ice
Garnish with a slice of your favourite citrus
